TRIUMPH CLOTHING 2008 - WEAR YOUR TRIUMPH OUT
It’s a little known fact that Triumph design their
own motorcycle clothing, rather than putting their logo onto
other people’s garments. Only by controlling the design
and specification themselves - just like they do with their
bikes - can Triumph be sure to achieve the performance that
motorcycle clothing must have.
Motorcycle clothing should be designed just as well as the
bike you ride with the same care and attention paid to achieving
the optimum blend of form and function. As a result, our
products look great as well as performing in extreme conditions.
The result is technical and casual clothing as individual
and stylish as our bikes. For example, jackets are tailored
to match the style of riding so there are different designs
specially matched to bikes in the range. So a jacket cut
for a more radical riding position like that of a Daytona
675 will be very different to a jacket designed for a more
relaxed bike like a Bonneville.
For 2008, Triumph are launching an array of new performance
and casual garments along with an exciting collection of
casual t-shirts. These products could grace any department
store or designer boutique but instead are exclusively available
from authorised Triumph dealers.
Triumph’s Technical Clothing
Whilst the technical expertise that goes into every Triumph
that rolls off the production line can be easily appreciated,
the clothing is also manufactured to the highest standards,
using the latest, most technical leathers, materials and
production techniques.
Triumph’s leatherwear is made from full grain leather.
This comes at a premium because the hides have to be free
from any potential weak spots - like those created by a brush
with a barbed wire fence for instance.
Impact seams are all double stitched. That way, if the exposed
stitching is abraded, the deeper, hidden stitching is there
as a second line of defence to save the integrity of the
garment – and the rider’s skin. Similarly, double
leather panels are used in vulnerable areas like elbows and
seats to give better resistance to abrasion.
Knox Production
Protective armour in Triumph’s leather and textile
clothing comfortably exceeds the latest safety standards.
It’s supplied by Knox, world leaders in impact protection
for motorcyclists - including MotoGP and Superbike riders.
Despite being flexible and ultra light, the Knox Air CE approved
protectors perform brilliantly. Their immensely hard outer
shell is injected to form a hexagonal inner crumple zone.
The additional EVA rubber lining absorbs even more energy.
Sympatex
A bike can be ridden in pretty much any kind of weather,
but it’s far more pleasant to stay dry. That’s
why Sympatex is used in Triumph clothing. Sympatex is a
clever, polyester-based membrane that allows vapour to
escape, preventing dampness but keeping wet weather out.
It doesn’t rely on tiny holes to work, so unlike
some technical membranes it won’t gradually block
with dirt and become less effective over time. Sympatex
are a German company with 25 years’ experience of
making waterproof products and whilst they test their products
under lab conditions, Triumph do their tests with official
test riders on real roads for thousands of hard miles.
Denim
Triumph Denim Jackets and Jeans are designed for use on and
off the bike. Using a high quality, ring-spun denim this
range features hidden Keprotec® reinforced panels for
increased abrasion resistance. Keprotec® is a combination
of Kevlar® & Cordura® and is five times stronger
than steel, gram for gram, and extremely tear restistant.
Riders Association of Triumph Clothing
As well as stylish t-shirts and fleeces, the range also includes
clothing with a high level of technical performance to
give maximum comfort in all riding conditions: Tri-Thermo
garments to keep the rider warm without the need for bulky
layers and Tri-Dri products to wick moisture away from
the body.
Triumph’s Casual Wear
The ’08 range of casual products encompass a variety
of t-shirts, zips thru’s and hoodies including the
sixty8 vintage collection, which takes its inspirations from
Triumph’s rich heritage. Included for ’08 is
Viva Knieval which is inspired by the legendary stunt man,
Evil Knieval, and his death defying feat when he jumped 150ft
at Caesars Palace, Las Vegas, in 1968. Mod Crushers Club
revives memories of the Mods and Rockers era of the 1960’s
when Triumph riding Rockers descended on Brighton beach.
